When our skins are at their driest and in most need of TLC we love nothing more than a good face oil. That being said, it’s a myth that if you have oily skin you shouldn’t use them. Face oils tend to absorb quicker than the usual facial creams and, although they feel very silky, they tend not to be as heavy. It’s just a case of finding the right one to suit your complexion. Here’s our pick of the most luxurious face-saving oils around.
By Petro and Laura
Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate £60
Made from rosehip, neroli and argan oils, this is the gentlest, best-smelling oil around. I tend to save this for occasions when I really need a visible pump and smooth, as it’s quite rich. It does require a bit of soaking in so I’ll put it on in the evening rather than the morning.
Votary Jasmine and Calendula Facial Oil £65
I used this oil instead of a face cream in the morning, as it’s meant to be applied prior to using make-up. It’s a light, aromatic blend of fine oils that soothes both skin and mind, and also completely safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Elemis Superfood Facial Oil £36
This deeply nourishing and hydrating formula is designed for oily or sensitive skins. Rich in omegas and antioxidants to feed the skin, it’s lightweight, non-greasy and easily absorbed, but I would still advise using it in the evening as it smells like heaven and is super-relaxing.
Kahina Giving Beauty Prickly Pear Seed Oil £130
This soothing oil is extremely rich in amino acids, vitamin K and antioxidants to brighten dark eye circles and restore elasticity. You’re advised to use it in place of a serum or under your usual face lotion. Richer in weight and texture than argan oil, it’s ideal for dry or mature skin – 100% of the ingredients are organic and it has a very subtle smell.
