In conversation with Charlotte Tilbury
The British make up artist, Charlotte Tilbury, is a force to be reckoned with. Since hitting department store beauty halls just over two years ago, her eponymous range of skincare and make up has broken all records, inspiring passion and devotion in equal measure transforming how women buy and wear make up. Wardrobe Icons was beyond excited to meet her, test out her new Magic Night Cream and peruse her glamorous Art-Deco inspired first store in London’s Covent Garden.
Cascading auburn locks, smouldering cat eyes and with a husky voice that starts every sentence with a drawn out daaaarling, Charlotte Tilbury is hypnotic in every way. Not satisfied with being one of the top five fashion make up artists in the world, working for every fashion magazine, designer and fashion show as well as painting the faces of every celebrity in Hollywood including doing Amal Clooney’s wedding make up (she wore Tilbury’s Walk of Shame lipstick down the aisle), she has also created her own highly successful beauty brand. Passionate about the products she has created, she barely manages to draw breath when explaining them, summoning her team of in-store make up artists to find the perfect shade of foundation, or eye shadow to test on me whilst regaling me with funny anecdotes on her celebrity friends. After a morning spent in her company I too have enlisted in the cult of Tilbury.
