Dresses with sleeves
I don’t know about you, but in the city I prefer to be shoulder-covered. There’s something not so chic about bare arms outside of a beach context. Plus a lot of not all of us like to show off our arms, so I thought my quest would be a win-win situation. Follow me into my dressing room, as I road test the best and most stylish day dresses available to buy now – all, unfailingly, with sleeves.
No offence to the beauty of a strappy dress on a tanned shoulder, or a strapless number adorning your collar bone – but right now I’m neither tanned nor toned and to be honest I would rather have my arms (at least partially) covered. It’s not that I don’t like sleeveless dresses; it’s just that I think a sleeve (however tiny) is far chicer and more appropriate, especially in the day and certainly in the office. It may be a reaction to living in the UK and refusing to wear tights all winter long (which can seem to last forever), but come spring I try to exclusively wear dresses. I love the practicality of them: throw one over your head and you’re ready to go, providing you don’t have to wear a jacket to cover your arms. If only buying one were as easy as wearing one. I was surprised how tricky it was to find a chic, casual dress with sleeves. Luckily for you I searched, trawled and tried on the best ones you can buy online right now.
