  • Anya Hindmarch£695

A ski fairisle knit is such a good option to both look festive and keep warm – it’s the modern Christmas jumper.

    Boden£80

I always have intentions of getting glammed up, but by the time I’ve finished cooking and running after the kids, trousers are the only option.

    Prada£375

These are posh house slippers that you can also wear to pop to the shops; the red velvet makes them feel particularly festive.

    Astley Clarke£85

A good pair of hoops can make or break a Christmas outfit – I love the size of these and the touch of green makes them feel a bit special.

    Bobbi Brown£23

No one can be bothered with a full face of make-up on the 25th, so I love this Bobbi Brown cream eye shadow to make me look as good as possible in Christmas photos with minimal effort.

    River Island£16

Although Christmas in the UK is cold, I always get hot when I’m cooking. This festive feminist T-shirt is right up my street (and suitable for the 25th in the Southern Hemisphere too).

    Petro’s Christmas Day

I’m in South Africa this Christmas, but I know most of you will be in wintry climes. So I thought instead of featuring my actual Christmas Day outfit, I would showcase my imaginary Northern Hemisphere one. Warm and practical for everyone, from the hostess to the perfectly dressed guest.
