In conversation with Emilia Wickstead
New Zealand designer, Emilia Wickstead cut her teeth at the prestigious Central St Martins school of Art, spending her formative years in Milan and New York working at Giorgio Armani, Proenza Schouler and Narciso Rodriguez. Although she made her name as a made-to-measure atelier, Emilia has since expanded her repertoire to include seasonal ready-to-wear collections shown during London Fashion week and has become a darling of not just the catwalk and the red carpet, but of women everywhere.
British based Emilia Wickstead is the equivalent of a modern day fairy godmother, waving her magic design wand and conjuring the most beautiful creations for everyone from first ladies to supermodels, Hollywood actresses to Royalty. Her dresses hark back to a by-gone era of glamour and sophistication but with an added dose of modern ease and comfort. Emilia gives us her do’s and don’ts on dressing for every occasion and the merits of putting pockets in everything.
