  • White Shirt

There are many reasons why we think every woman should own a white shirt: it can be your formal go-to under a tailored jacket in the office, your alternative to a T-shirt worn with jeans, and even your smart top when worn with a statement skirt and earrings at a formal do. However the iconic collared, button-down style doesn’t suit everyone – read on to find the perfect style and outfit combination for you.

    Busty

Paradoxically, bib-front shirts look best on busty figures, mainly because the buttons don’t run all the way down the front of the shirt, so they don’t create a distorted effect. Also, as the front panel is often cut in one piece, it glides over your bust as opposed to hugging it. Pair with a flouncy printed skirt and statement earrings to draw the attention from the top half.

    Tall

If you’re tall you’re sure to have long arms, too, so why not choose a shirt style with interesting cuffs, like this one from Iris and Ink. Show off your legs by tucking it into a pair of high-waisted bell-bottomed jeans and finish with a pair of cool designer trainers, for a look that will never date.

    Flat Chested

This frilly take on a classic white shirt will suit flat chests: the pleats, ruffles and lace detail across the front creates volume, while the high collar draws attention away from the front, framing your face. We think it will look striking tucked in this high-waisted red skirt and paired with burgundy knee-high boots.

    Plus Size

Cut with a longline curved hem for a flattering fit and going up to a size 28,  this classic button-down shirt has been designed with a curvy body in mind. Wear it with cool drawstring trousers and a pair of statement designer shoes, like our favourite Gucci loafers.
