If, like most of us, you spend your day in front of a computer, you may want to read our lowdown on face mists, which promise to reinvigorate your skin (and mood) at your desk. We asked everyone in our office to try a mist for one week and report back. Discover whether they lived up to the hype…

    Caudalie Beauty Elixir Mist Spray£23.50
    Caudalie Face Mist

I spend a lot of time in front of my laptop – like, a lot. I also sit at my desk in an office with other people, and the quality of the air isn’t exactly minty fresh all day long. So when stress levels are high and I feel I’m going cross-eyed, nothing gives me an instant boost like Caudalie Beauty Elixir. I’ve been using it for years. In fact, I can’t remember a time where I haven’t had a bottle at my side. A blend of grape, orange blossom, rose, mint and rosemary, this spray instantly refreshes my complexion and even tightens pores. Shake well, close your eyes, mist onto the face and breathe in – I promise you won’t want to be without it. It also comes in a 30ml bottle, which I always carry with me on flights.

    Botanicals Digital Detox Face Mist£54
Petro Storberg Deskside Pick Me Ups

So much of my life is spent in front of a screen – whether it’s my phone, laptop or TV in the evenings – but too much screen-time can be really energy-zapping. When you run your own business there’s not much you can do about that, so a digital detox in a bottle is the next best thing. The crucial ingredient in this natural mist is the silver-rich spring water. Silver is renowned for its healing properties, as well as being an anti-bacterial and antioxidant (and it also helps fight blemishes, so if you suffer from breakouts this is the mist for you). This, combined with a multitude of minerals, essential oils and active compounds, helps to combat skin stress after hours at my desk, while the scent eases tension and aids concentration. It’s not a miracle fix, but it does make me feel awake and recharged and one step closer to achieving a healthy balance.

David Mallett Fresh Eau de Concombre Spray£32
    Deskside Beauty Saviours

One of the most memorable things I learnt about skin as a beauty editor was that the number-one issue for most people is the simplest to fix: dehydration. Often, just adding moisture can plump fine lines, boost radiance and give tired-looking skin a lift. And this formula makes easy work of it. Sure, it’s not a replacement for a moisturiser. However, the spritz is super-refreshing, and loaded with hyaluronic acid, a hydrating heavy-hitter, and antioxidants, which help protect skin too. There’s also organic cucumber in there, and while I’m not really sure what that does for skin, it feels lovely. And when pushed, my workmates said I looked revived. Winning.

I have to start by being honest – I’ve always been a bit sceptical of face sprays. Sure, they sound refreshing, but are they an essential part of my beauty routine? Well, I hate to say it, but I’ve been totally converted. Just a few spritzes of this dewy face mist and not only do I feel instantly refreshed (and I really do), it’s also treating my skin while I work. Prebiotics calm and soothe irritations, peptides firm and even out skin texture and hyaluronic acid gives my complexion an instant boost of hydration. Not to mention the calming cucumber and aloe, and the wild rose and sandalwood that leave my desk area with a soothing aroma. I challenge you to feel stressed when you have this to hand; it may not eliminate my much-needed 3pm chocolate fix, but it’s the next best thing.
