I’ve always loved the spring shows – it’s no secret I’m a summer girl at heart…

In my days as a shopping editor for print magazines, when we covered trends we would pretty much report on everything. At Wardrobe ICONS, however, Petro and I are on the lookout for longevity – which means we need to be picky. As well as spotting current classics with a simple twist (daytime silk) or statements we know will go the distance (bows, bows, bows), we also don’t want to miss new items that we believe will earn their place in stylish wardrobes everywhere (white boots).

At the heart of everything is our desire to help you build a lasting wardrobe you love – and when you look back at our past trend reports, if we’re doing our job, there’ll be items in all of them that still work right now. The only difference is that what feels relevant changes, but that’s where clever styling and, yes, the right pieces, make all the difference.

As this is our first issue of spring 2019, Petro and I are dreaming about the items on our new-season wish list. For Petro, it’s all about the Chloé belt and head-to-toe beige. For me, top of my list is a Burberry trench – the Chelsea, to be specific. And I really, really want it. The time has come to trade in the high-street style I bought years ago and invest in something I will pass down to my daughters. The hard thing is the waiting, because this is something I need to work towards. But do you know what? That’s OK. There’s a joy in the anticipation (plus, you never know, my birthday is fast approaching).

Fashion Week is also a time for editors to meet the designers behind the collections we love. This was the case last September when we had the opportunity to interview Victoria Beckham in London, so if you missed our video Q&A make sure you watch it on our YouTube channel, ICONS tv.

Elsewhere in the issue, we shine the light on Erdem, the London-based brand that’s earned iconic status with its distinctive prints, striking cuts and detailed craftsmanship, while in Top 10 Spring Dresses we look at everyday dresses, because a dress is always a good idea.

We hope you enjoy reading our trend issue and that it inspires you to wear your existing icons in new ways. And, if there are pieces you really want, we urge you to come up with your own wish list and dream a little.
