If there is one thing Laura and I both love, it’s a holiday.
Like everything in life, we seem to have different strengths where preparation is concerned. I am the logistics expert in my family – I source locations, book the flights, look into restaurants and excursions. By the time we leave I’m a travel agent and guidebook in one. Laura, on the other hand, lavishes her time and skills on the actual packing for her trip, something I’ve had to learn to get better at rather than instinctively enjoying.
However, I’ve adopted a few of her tips, which have made an enormous difference to me. The one piece of advice I’ve really taken on board is to pack with a theme in mind or around a colour scheme. That way I can avoid taking my entire summer wardrobe on a single trip. Here’s where our Handpicked Edits should provide some inspiration – depending on your final destination. We’re also always on the hunt for new tips, and credit Carrie, our LA contributing editor, for quite a lot of these. Her family’s grand tour of Europe seemed like the perfect occasion to ask her to document her packing skills. One thing we’ve learnt is to use a rail to edit our selection (rather than hanging it off any available door knobs), to get a full view of what we’re actually taking!
We also look at the dad trainer of the sandal world – the Birkenstock. Laura has taken the plunge, but I’m still very much on the fence. Alexandra, however, makes a compelling case for why I should reconsider investing. Then there’s my review of Finca Serena. that I booked through Mr & Mrs Smith. Follow me as I go on a beautiful (child-free) trip to review this boutique hotel in the tranquil mountains of Mallorca. From sipping an Aperol Spritz overlooking the stunning countryside, to taking a dip in the adult-only pool, to finishing a book on our private terrace…
There is, of course, much more, and we hope to provide you with all the travel inspiration you need, wherever you’re going this summer.
