It’s official – spring is in the air…

Here’s to sunny mornings, new blooms and, in the not too distant future (hopefully), balmy evenings. I love the switch of the season, but what does it mean for our wardrobes? Of course, it’s a time for renewal and refreshment, but it’s also a time to consider the pieces we already have and look at how they can be respun, reimagined and re-worn in an updated way.

Our biannual trend report encapsulates exactly this sentiment. As ever, we have sifted through this season’s catwalks and cherry-picked the moods and pieces that can be worn and treasured forever. Many of these trends comprise items we already have in our wardrobes, looked at from a new point of view. For example, we all have a pair of jeans that we cherish, so now’s the time to think about how to restyle them, be that doubling up with a denim shirt, or adding a sharp white blazer. Or how about respinning that beloved broderie anglaise blouse with relaxed tailoring or summer-ready prints? We also highlight the considered pieces that will breathe new life into our existing collections (hello, Bermuda shorts) and the ICONS that, if you don’t already own them, are well worth investing in now.

On top of this, Laura and I share our mood boards for the season ahead. Think of these less as shopping lists and more an edit of the pieces inspiring our spring sartorial tone, be it a silhouette update, the introduction of a new colour, or simply the elevated staples that make everyday dressing feel special.

And because we’re feeling a little wintry in the skin department, we’ve dedicated this issue’s Beauty Focus to finding the best-in-class products that will rejuvenate dull complexions and effortlessly cheat a summery glow.

Finally, sunnier commutes are the perfect time to catch up on our ICONversations podcast. We have a new episode landing next week, so in the meantime get up to speed with the second series so far, which features insightful talks with InStyle Editor-in-Chief Laura Brown, Tibi’s Amy Smilovic, Moda Operandi CEO Ganesh Srivats and our very own Deborah Brett. Turns out talking never goes out of fashion.

I hope you love reading this issue as much as we’ve enjoyed making it and that it has you feeling the many joys of spring.

We’re stepping into spring’s statement trainers and using them to update off-duty outfits.

Blend a little of this onto the apples of cheeks to turn a wintry complexion into glowing summer skin.

Timeless print – check. Versatile silhouette – check. Ulla’s wear-on-repeat dress is an investment never to be regretted.
