  • Summer Hair

We have a confession. Sometimes we’re so focused on our holiday wardrobe, we neglect the actual hair on our head. Every year the same thing happens – after a week of sun and surf, our hair health suffers – but this summer we’re turning over a new leaf. Petro and Laura have both packed hair savers, and found formulas that really work. You may discover the solution for your strands below too.

    Hydrating Leave-In Detangling Mist£30

I now have long hair after years of a much shorter style, and this requires a whole new level of maintenance. When my hair was short, I could use whatever shampoo was handy. Now, I have to be more discerning,  and what I’ve struggled most with is finding the right conditioner – even the lightest formula makes my hair hang, but without it my strands are tangled. The solution is this natural, nourishing spritz from Christophe Robin, with aloe vera leaf juice, which I add to towel-dried hair. The brush glides through and my hair dries feeling soft and light. It has a lovely floral scent, and is even gentle enough to use on my daughter.

    Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil£52.50

Meet the product I’ve recommended to anyone who will listen since discovering it in the NET Clean Beauty kit a few months ago. The teeniest amount of Oribe’s Gold Lust oil will give your hair a serious boost. At the beach, a few drops in damp hair smooths tangles and gives it a healthy shine once dry. It also protects from that straw-like texture, which I get on holidays. I also add it to dry ends when they need a little TLC. Also, a little goes a long way, so even the small size should last for ages.

    Soleil Bain Apres Soleil Shampoo£15.15

On summer holidays, my hair becomes brittle from swimming and sun exposure. In the past, I’ve tried to save it by not washing it as often, but that doesn’t work. So I’ve switched from my usual cleansing shampoo to a far more nourishing one, and I’ve already noticed that my hair isn’t showing the usual signs of holiday fatigue. This Kérastase formula works by removing chlorine, salt and residues, while replacing moisture. It also has a delicious jasmine scent.

    Restorative Treatment Mask£64

I’ve never been into hair masks, but I’m now a convert. I discovered haircare brand Virtue when Elizabeth Saltzman – who has the longest, glossiest hair of anyone I know – recommended it. Then I bought a “founders pack” from Cult Beauty and this mask was the game-changer. Since I’ve been using it on my mid-lengths and ends, my hair is so much healthier, stronger and shinier. The treatment is very creamy, and has brown algae and baobab seed oil to help with elasticity, and a keratin-based ingredient to repair damage and soften hair. I just leave it on for a minute after shampoo, then rinse.
