    • Soften the drama of sequins by pairing them with daytime winter staples, such as your cosiest cable knit and flat boots.
    • Layering works too – a polo neck jumper and opaque tights under a sparkly dress will look gorgeous in the day.
    • Choose accessories that suit the time, not the sparkle. For work, that means structured bags and polished mules. On the weekend, a canvas tote and trainers are ideal.

    Daytime Sequins

All that sparkles and shimmers used to be strictly for after-hours, but this season, especially with those shorter days, don’t be scared for your sequins to see the light. The good news is this is the perfect opportunity to shop your own wardrobe – pieces you once stored in the ‘party-only’ area are now key to updating your daytime winter look. The only caveat to this is you need to know how to wear them…

    Top Tips

    • Sequins are most stylish when the item is a classic daytime shape, such as high-waisted trousers or a peplum top.
    • Treat the sequins like a neutral, adding prints (like leopard) and touch-me textures (such as wool and velvet) to keep the look modern.
    • One of the easiest ways to make sequins look stylish is to dress them tonally. Wear various shades of the high-drama piece, but keep your accessories and make-up simple, so no one confuses your stylish statement with a very (very) late night.
