  • Petro’s A/W Essentials

At the start of every season, I have a wardrobe clear out – I put my summer items to the back, and bring forward my winter wear. Then I analyse what I have and what I feel is missing from my capsule collection and build a shopping list. This winter I will be aiming to keep it clean and classic, with a twist on fabrics and details. So I am looking to finally introduce a tulle skirt (with a bit of glitter), expand my suit wardrobe with more wintry fabrics, and introduce a T-shirt jumper to my cashmere collection (hello Chloé Fair Isle).

Belted grain de poudre Wool Blazer£1,145

“I am a big fan of tailoring, and a beige suit has been on my wish-list for forever. Perhaps this is the season I take the plunge!”

Pleated grain de poudre wool Straight-leg Pants£565

“A good suit is defined by its trousers. My favourite is a cigarette shape, as it’s both flattering and timeless.”

    Saint Laurent

    Round-buckled Leather Belt£345

“For years my mother has collected belts, and now I can see why – like a great scarf or bag, it can be the accessory to make or break an outfit.”

    Evie Top£65

“I have several variations of the white blouse, but a simple design with a tied bow will be a great work addition to my collection.”

    Isabel Marant

Amer Gold and Silver-tone Hoop Earrings£90

“Every outfit needs a wow factor – these earrings will add it with regal flare, and go with everything.”

    Cushion Large Canvas Tote Bag£775

“Last season I bought a Saint Laurent canvas tote, felt guilty about it, but used it more than any other bag I own. Cost per wear, it has been such a successful buy – I am tempted to add a Loewe version to the mix.”

    Simone Rocha

    Sequin Ruffle Tulle Midi Skirt£695

“Age old story: Laura buys something, I am not sure about it, then two years later I try to buy one and can’t find the same version. However, I think this tulle skirt with sequin detail might have been worth the hesitation.”

    Pure Collection

    Cashmere T-Shirt£99

“The softest cashmere in a tasteful tobacco shade means this cashmere tee is a wardrobe must-have. Perfect for pulling on over slip dresses, or adding to a trench and denim.”

    Princetown Leather Fur Lined Mules£770

“I fought it at first, bought every different version – but now I am relenting, and admitting I was wrong. The fur-lined version of the Gucci loafer is the only pair to own this winter.”

Kelly Set Of Two Glittered Resin Hair Clips£30

“I have to be honest, bows and hairbands can be tricky to pull off, but clips are definitely the understated way to do hair accessories.”

“I was convinced jumpsuits weren’t for me, but a V-neck style with a wrap detail has changed my mind. It’s stupidly flattering on an hour-glass shape.”

    Intarsia Merino Wool-Blend Turtleneck Sweater£620

“Vintage Fair Isle: tick. Polo-neck: tick. T-shirt shape: tick. Finding it hard to find reasons not to covet this Chloé number.”

    Alphabet Letter Rings£180

“These iconic rings are as versatile as they are cool. Instant classics that will become as much a part of you as your own initials.”

    Cotton Twill Cocoon Skirt£79

“Laura has a Joseph version of this khaki skirt (that I wish I’d bought). I love the utilitarian feel of it, and how, like a good trouser, it can be easily dressed up or down.”

“Every winter I wear my camel knee-high boots on high rotation, and I have been on the hunt for a darker pair. When we spotted these Paris Texas ones at Paris Fashion Week, they have been in my virtual basket ever since.”
