  • Petro’s Winter Staples

I love this time of year, and get so excited about switching up my wardrobe, revisiting my favourite pieces – it’s a bit like being reunited with old friends. But it’s also always nice to add a refresh to last year’s investments too. I’m confident you’ll get at least 40+ wears from each one of my picks here, and won’t want to part with them at the end of the season, but they’ll be worn for many more winters to come.

    High Neck Cashair Knit£245

The problem with layering is it can get bulky, especially if you’re lining one knit with another. This ultra-fine Joseph option adds insulation without volume.

    Stand Studio

    Fanny Leopard-Print Faux Fur Coat£349

When she was J.Crew’s resident style icon, Jenna Lyons famously said ‘leopard is a neutral’. The deep tones of this particular print and the classic cut make this coat doubly sophisticated.

I love headbands, but sometimes find them a little overwhelming. This gold style, however, tones in perfectly with my hair and adds a subtle polish to any outfit.

Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven£25

I’ve made a real return to red lipstick this winter, as it’s such an easy, instant way to elevate an outfit. I love this incredibly matte Hourglass liquid lipstick in a deep shade of red.

The Square Knit Scoop-Back Maxi Dress£350

On those mornings when your brain doesn’t quite want to click into gear, reach for this COS dress. Effortless and versatile, I’ll be wearing mine with boots or trainers.

    Straight Leg Faux Leather Pants£335

While I’m never going to pack away my leather leggings, these high-waisted trousers look super flattering with everything, from an oversized turtleneck to a silk camisole. A true desk-to-dance-floor staple.

    Valentino Garavani

    V-Logo Large Grained-Leather Tote Bag £770

If you haven’t already seen me with this Aurora London bag, where have you been? In all seriousness, I’ve been using it non-stop, because it’s a great size, the perfect shade of burnt tan, and works perfectly from day to night.

    Pure Collection

Cashmere Lofty Ribbed Cardigan in Cognac £245

The chunky cardigan is a real connector piece, bridging that gap between a light jumper and more cumbersome coat.

    Stuart Weitzman

    The Allie Boot£625

These Stuart Weitzman boots are my new obsession. I love how the pearls give a hint of femininity, juxtaposing with the masculine utility of the boot shape.

    Number Ring£180

At first it was Aname’s letter rings I fell hard for, but this season it’s the new numeric styles that are adorning my fingers. I chose the dates of my children’s birthdays, which makes them all the more special.

Pip Floral-Print Cotton Maxi Dress £206.50

A printed silk crepe dress is one of my winter essentials. Add a fine knit layer for daytime, then wear with a tailored coat for evening – the moody floral print on this Rixo one is timeless, you just can’t go wrong.
