LF adding the finishing touches to her festive table
Ed’s Letter Christmas
Where embracing Christmas is concerned, I have come to realise that there are two sorts of people…
The lukewarm and the mega-enthusiastic – Petro and I definitely fall into the latter category. For me, it all begins on 1st December, when I start unveiling the goodies in my advent calendar (guess which one I’ve gone for this year on our Countdown page). For Petro, it’s the moment she hangs a massive wreath on her front door.
Then it’s on to the first Saturday in December – that’s the day my family and I go on a mission to find the perfect tree. I love everything about this day; the cold, crisp air, smelling the fresh pine needles and the excitement of my girls. Once we’ve dragged it home, we put festive songs on and the decorating begins (a piece of trivia – my husband, the architect, is the one who obsesses over the tree-decorating ‘balance’!). Petro, on the other hand, is an online tree-shopper – let’s just hope she gets the measurements right this year!
Meanwhile, the excitement is palpable at ICONS HQ, where, over office lunches, we discuss what’s at the top of our Christmas wishlists. I’m hoping for some new placemats, while Petro would love a replenishment of her favourite scented candles, please. Beyond that, we like nothing more than compiling the virtual lists of all the things we are hoping to give and receive. From dream ticket buys and the chicest gifts for the perfect hostess, to ideas for the girl who has everything and the men in your life – every gift has been lovingly handpicked by us, for you. Don’t miss our edit of gifts under £30 – perfect for Secret Santa – and meaningful presents for babies, boys and little girls, too.
And finally, not forgetting the Christmas dinner-party planning, (for which you will find inspiration in our For The Festive Table page) and the biggest decision of all: what will our present-wrapping theme be this year? You’ll find plenty of tips and ideas in our Christmas Gift Wrap page – this year, I’ll be using fabric in an effort to spread a little festive cheer to our planet, too.
