  • Laura’s Handpicked Edit

This season, my sartorial mood is a little different from usual. While I’m still excited by newness, my main focus is on maximising the beloved pieces I already have. This means thinking about new ways to wear old favourites, whether that be via refreshed styling ideas – such as layering knits underneath my treasured Frankie Shop jumpsuit –  or investing in a few carefully considered pieces that will update my existing collection (hello, McQueen belt and Church’s boots). So, while this edit won’t scream ‘brand new’, I hope it inspires you to revisit and rediscover the pieces you love.

    Isabel Marant Étoile

    Georgia Roll-neck Striped Sweater£ 315

“I’ve found myself rediscovering stripes and love how they give a preppy edge to denim and khaki, or can be clashed with floral prints. This Isabel Marant knit feels particularly special thanks to the puffed sleeves and scalloped neckline. A chic everyday jumper.”

    Boden

    Girlfriend Jeans£ 65

“I’m treasuring my jeans this season, but rather than wearing them solely on weekends, I’m also dressing them up for smarter occasions with blouses, shirts and blazers – a look seen on the A/W Celine catwalk. This means I can get more mileage out of my classic blues.”

    Church's

    Alexandra T Polished Binder Lace-Up Boot£ 570

“The coming months will revolve around my busy work and family life, so my footwear choices need to be comfortable, practical and versatile. Church’s flat stomping boot fits the bill. Robust, but with an elegant silhouette, they elongate my small frame and team perfectly with autumnal dresses.”

    Alexander McQueen

    Leather Waist Belt£ 470

“This is a real wish-list item and is something I’ve been eyeing up for the past few seasons. I love the idea of using it to update last year’s coats by belting them at the waist, or to give my knitted dresses and chunky jumpers a cinched silhouette. I shall be adding this to my Christmas list.”

    Arket

    Fluid Long-Sleeved Dress£ 115

“Maxi dresses are a practical choice for autumn/winter, and I reach for them on repeat. I look for long-sleeved styles in a timeless print which can be teamed with knitwear, tights and boots. Arket’s iteration ticks all the boxes and can be worn with a belt for a more defined shape.”

    Burberry

The Chelsea Long Trench Coat£ 1,450

“There’s a reason we’re called Wardrobe ICONS: because we believe in championing the pieces that will be worn and loved for a lifetime. It might not be a new idea, but the Burberry trench remains an effortless style classic. This is the only coat I need to reach for as we head into autumn.”

    Bottega Veneta

Cassette Intrecciato Leather Shoulder Bag£ 1,370

“This is the first chocolate-brown bag I’ve ever owned and I’m won over by its versatility. The rich shade complements my autumnal palette of burgundy, tan, navy and cream. While the padded Cassette is a seasonal hit, I feel this pared-back version has more longevity. Plus, it’s the perfect size.”

    Aname

    Mini Alphabet Letter L Ring£ 110

“I’ve worn Aname’s handcrafted initial rings to death and consider them the perfect everyday jewellery, no matter the time of year. This season, I’ve switched the large versions for the mini styles, which add an understated flash of gold to my day-to-day wardrobe.”

    Max Mara

    Leisure Belted Mohair-Blend Cardigan£ 280

“The cardigan is having a moment this season, and it’s a useful forever-style worth adding to your knitwear collection. I love to layer mine over dresses during the cooler months, adding a belt for shape. This forest green is a classic go-with-everything autumnal hue.”

    Nanushka

    Canaan Belted Ribbed-Knit Turtleneck Midi Dress£ 305 £ 213.50

“Knitwear dressing has become a real cold-weather solution for me; I love the ease of slipping on a dress or co-ord, which looks polished while also delivering on comfort and warmth. Nanushka’s signature Canaan dress has a universally flattering outline, which could easily be dressed up or down.”

    Boden

    Bewdley Boots£ 240

“I invested in a pair of leopard-print boots last year and cannot recommend them enough – I wore them all winter long! They have proved endlessly adaptable, working with both block colours and prints for day and evening wear. These, from Boden, have a walkable low heel, making them extra-wearable.”

    Timeless Pearly

    Heart-Charm 24kt Gold-Plated Choker£ 488

“After seasons of reaching for statement earrings, I’ve found myself focusing more on necklaces to provide outfit updates. A chunkier chain works well with robust layers, and this choker-length style will suit both jumpers and shirts. I also love the timeless heart charms and autumnal colours.”

    Frankie Shop

    Linda Twill Jumpsuit£ 315

“I bought this same style in khaki last year and haven’t regretted it for one moment – in fact I’m already wearing it this season. My tip is to layer it up for autumn/winter wear with a roll neck underneath. Reach for fine-gauge merino knits or striped jersey styles.”
