…What do we want to wear right now? What are we looking for from our wardrobes? What is going to make us feel good? Considering our own answers, as well as those from you, our dear readers, we discovered that comfort, inspiration and a touch of escapism are at the top of the agenda.
As far as inspiration goes, they don’t come any more inspiring than our cover star, Ditte Reffstrup, the creative director of Ganni. Having taken over the brand in 2009, Ditte and her husband, Nicolaj, have crafted it into a cult hit. The formula for success? Offering high-quality, long-lasting designs at a reasonable price point. With so much uncertainty in the world at the moment, this approach to fashion feels all the more sensible and relevant. Our content director Frankie Graddon caught up with Ditte on page 2.
We love hearing from our Wardrobe ICONS community and recently had a request about flat boots that has inspired this issue’s Style Sheet. Rooted in ease and practicality, the flat boot is something that can be reached for right now and worn with the pieces you already have in your wardrobe. We wanted to highlight four stylish ways of wearing this smart investment for autumn/winter.
Speaking of smart investments, this season we have found ourselves wanting to be extra-clever with the big-ticket items on our wish lists and the high-street buys we’re adding to basket. In our Style Notes feature, we discuss the high/low dressing formula, showcasing the pieces we believe are well worth spending on, and those that can be picked up at a smart price. And because a little seasonal update never goes amiss, we shine a light on our Unexpected Hero, the knitted vest.
We can’t be the only ones who feel like this year has taken its toll on our skin? As the weather turns even colder, now’s the time to give our complexions additional care and attention. With that in mind, for this issue’s Beauty Focus, we’ve found four de-stressing solutions to boost luminosity and calm our skin.
And, finally, some escapism by way of designer and creative consultant, Matilda Goad. Matilda brings a breath of fresh air to our Instagram feeds with her beautiful colour schemes and clever use of print and texture. In fact, her recent home renovations have inspired Laura to make over her own space with a more adventurous streak. We asked Matilda to share some easy home updates for lifting our living spaces.
We hope you enjoy this issue, and that it answers the sartorial questions you have right now. As ever, we would love to hear from you via our Instagram @wardrobeicons.
Love Petro (and Laura) xxx
