  • Laura’s Back-To-Work Essentials

This year, I’m feeling particularly excited for the start of the autumn/winter fashion season. After months of working from home, heading back to the office feels like an opportunity to really celebrate getting dressed up again and invest in wardrobe pieces that will bring joy, boost confidence and get me motivated for the weeks ahead. Longevity and versatility are key – my workwear capsule comprises simple, luxe items that can be worn multiple ways: a classic trench, a knitted dress, leather trousers. Plus, I’ll be reaching for a handful of hero accessories that will freshen up my existing collection.

    Chloé

    Kiss Leather Shoulder Bag£1,250

“My requirements for a work bag have changed. I now need a larger style that can accommodate all of my new daily essentials, from a laptop to phone charger. Though not a new-season style, Chloé’s shoulder bag perfectly fits the bill and is something I’ve had my eye on for a few years. I love the slouchy shape, which will provide a chic counterpoint to tailoring.”

    Paris Texas

    Blue 60 Mock Croc Knee-High Boots£560

“These might seem an out-there colour, but sky blue is a great match for autumnal tones. If, like me, you already have classic black, tan and leopard print in your boot repertoire, it’s a shade well worth considering. The walkable heel height means these are practical for office days and will amp up smart dresses and separates.”

    Raey

    Recycled-Cashmere Blend Ribbed Fishtail Dress£425

“Delivering on comfort and one-step-dressing ease, knitted dresses have become a firm favourite in my autumn/winter workwear capsule. I love the maxi length of this, which will work with both trainers and boots. Oxblood is a chic wintery tone that pairs effortlessly with neutrals (black, navy and brown) or can be used to anchor brights.”

    Smythson

    Soho 2022 Textured-Leather Diary£175

“I might be one of the last people standing who still uses a paper diary, but I couldn’t be without it. I love nothing more than starting a new week with a clean, blank page, and crossing things off my to-do list. I also keep one on my bedside table for making notes in the morning.”

    Glacce

    Smoky Quartz Bottle£70

“This season, I have promised myself that I will drink more water. If anything is going to make me do it, it’s this smoky quartz bottle, which is made from toxin-free glass and comes with relaxing, anxiety-reducing properties. Plus, what could look chicer on my desktop?”

    Laura Lombardi

    Fede 14kt Gold-Plated Chain Necklace£180

“A chunky chain necklace is something I am going to be wearing on repeat this season, over jumpers and with dresses. The secret is to opt for a luxurious, heavyweight chain, and Laura Lombardi’s has just the right amount of chunk. I also love the minimal ring clasp.”

    Iris & Ink

    Ava Marled Mohair-Blend Sweater£155 £85

“One of the most-worn categories in my cold-weather wardrobe, I always add new pieces of knitwear to my collection at the start of the season. This azure shade gives wintery complexions a glow and works particularly well when teamed with navy, denim or beige.”

    Monsoon

    Embroidered Chest Printed Dress Black£65

“I’m always on the lookout for smart-priced pieces to add to my wardrobe, and this dress is a real gem. I love the dark floral print, which is winter appropriate and has a vintage twist, which means it won’t date. I’ll wear it teamed with boots and a trench coat.”

    de Mamiel

    Sleep Series – Rise, 10ml£37

“I am a big fan of De Mamiel products, and this rollerball is a mainstay on my desktop. The blend of soothing essential oils gives me an instant pick-me-up during an afternoon slump, or when I’ve been staring at my screen for too long. Rub on temples and wrists and inhale deeply.”

    Anya Hindmarch

    I Am A Plastic Bag Recycled-Canvas Phone Pouch£250

“This smart canvas pouch will stop me having to rummage in my bag for my phone. And on days when just the bare essentials are required, it will stylishly store my keys and cards.”

    Apple

AirPods Pro With Wireless Charging Case£195

“After spending over a year working from home and using traditional headphones, I recently tried these wireless ones and haven’t looked back. They are far more comfortable than regular ear buds and have a noise-cancelling feature which makes work calls that much easier. Well worth the investment.”

“A trench is a cornerstone of my autumn wardrobe and the perfect coat to layer over office-ready outfits during the trans-seasonal months. I love this smart-priced mac style which offers a timeless, good-quality alternative to designer iterations.”

    Carvela

    Berserk£99

“Of course, there will be days when I’m working from home wearing my cashmere joggers. On those occasions, a stylish slipper will make me feel like I’m still making an effort.”

    Goop Beauty

    GOOPGENES Clean Nourishing Lip Balm£17

“A nourishing lip balm is my desktop beauty essential. I love Goop’s clean formula, which leaves a pretty sheen and tastes deliciously sweet.”

    Nudea

The Easy Does it Bralette & Hipster Brief£60

“The start of back-to-work season is also the time when I reassess my lingerie drawer. This year I’ll be adding Nudea’s comfortable set, which will sit seamlessly under dresses and shirts.”

    Kenneth Jay Lane

    Gold-Plated Single Link Drop Earrings£80

“Speaking to my love of chunky chain jewellery, these earrings strike the perfect balance between statement and everyday. I’ll be reaching for them to add a little glow to low-key outfits of jumpers and leather trousers.”

    Boden

    Cashmere Knitted Top£95

“Consider this the winter version of your favourite round-neck T-shirt. Luxe cashmere makes it smart enough for the office and will add tactility to tailoring as well as provide an extra layer of warmth.”

    Iris & Ink

    Dawn Pleated Leather Straight-Leg Pants£395 £118

“With a classic straight cut and practical side pockets, these trouser-inspired leather pants would make a chic alternative to traditional tailoring.”

    Loewe

    Flamenco Knotted Leather Belt£195

“I’ll be investing in this Loewe knotted belt and wearing it over everything, from dresses to blazers and coats.”
