Seven and a half years of Wardrobe ICONS…

…Two hundred and twenty-nine covers and, hand on heart, only once before have I been this excited about a cover star. Adriene Mishler was introduced to me by our content director, Frankie, in early March 2020, at a time when my anxiety was on another level. The uncertainty of COVID-19 gave me the need to find a discipline that would allow me to manage my thoughts and carve out time for myself. Almost instantly, practising yoga with Adriene gave me space to breathe and decompress, and two years later, there has hardly been a morning when I haven’t got on the mat. I’ve even joined her online community, Find What Feels Good – consider me her number one fan.

So, when I reached out to Adriene over Instagram, I was touched to receive her reply, and over the moon when she said she would be on our cover. I am so delighted to have this opportunity to spotlight someone who has been so beneficial for me. Frankie has done a great job of asking questions whose answers could really help, especially at the start of another uncertain year. This interview really means a lot, and I feel privileged to have it in the ICONS Update to begin 2022 in the best possible way.

As you read this, I, along with millions of others, will be doing Adriene’s 30 Day Yoga Journey. It’s available online for free and can be followed by anyone and everyone. More so than a new mascara or coat, I feel now is the time to invest in our mental wellbeing, so I really encourage you all to join.

Of course, we wouldn’t be Wardrobe ICONS without some sartorial inspiration, and this issue has plenty. Buying intelligently and thoughtfully has always been our ethos, and the top of the year is a good time to check in and make sure that every purchase counts. With this in mind, I’ve shared my eight new-year wardrobe resolutions to hold in mind for your next shopping trip. And if you’re struggling to get back into your winter-style groove after the holidays, we’ve rounded up the chicest touches of sheepskin, found the winter trainers to wear with everything, and put together the ultimate cold-weather outfit formula: leather trousers and luxe knits. Plus, if you’re less of a yoga bunny and more of a gym girl, Petro has selected the workout wear to refresh your kit bag. We also shine a light on PANGAIA, the planet-first basics brand perfect for January’s at-home moments, and celebrate the many shades of winter white

I hope you enjoy this issue and find it filled with all the new-year motivation you need. Here’s to a happy, healthy 2022!

    Love Laura (and Petro) xxx
