  • Daylesford Cottages

Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds and only two hours from London, these cosy cottages make the perfect home-from-home escape.

Daylesford Farm has long been a destination for those wanting a wholesome retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Nestled in rolling countryside, the organic farm boasts an award-winning cafe, artisan cookery school, a shop stocked with farm-grown produce and chic homewares, and a luxurious Bamford wellness spa. In other words, it’s the ultimate escape. With the on-site cottages having just been renovated, the Daylesford offering has become even more indulgent.

We were the first to stay in one of the beautifully restored, dog-friendly stone cottages that sit within the farm. With one double bedroom and a bunk room, it was perfect for a family of four to stay comfortably for three nights. We loved the open plan living/kitchen area, which is partitioned with a double-sided log fire, making the entire downstairs feel cosy yet airy.

The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook lazy brunches (we made French toast) and has an Aga for making hearty dinners with organic ingredients bought from the farm shop. The welcome hamper – filled with cheese, tea, biscuits and fizz – was an especially lovely touch. In the living room you’ll find a squashy sofa and armchairs, which can be curled up in for movie nights, as well as a good range of board games to keep the entire family entertained.

Upstairs, the master bedroom comes with a ginormous king-sized bed, beautiful bedding and exposed beams. The girls loved the addition of a TV in their bunk room, which also allowed us parents to have a lie-in! As you’d expect, being so close to a Bamford spa, the bathroom was a blissful sanctuary, with a deep bathtub and plenty of Bamford products.

As well as having the farm within easy reach, the pretty village of Kingham is a manageable, and very picturesque, walk away. Here, you’ll find The Wild Rabbit, a traditional country inn serving refined pub food using organic, locally sourced ingredients. After a delicious lunch, we walked back to the cottage and settled down with a cup of tea and a good book. Heaven.
