  • 8 Fresh Ways To Wear Jeans

If there’s one item we can all agree on being the most-worn in our wardrobes, it’s jeans. The staple to end all staples, they have been an essential ingredient of everyday dressing for decades, continuously providing the no-brainer solution to effortless, stylish and comfortable outfits. Worn with coats and boots, a great pair will see you through winter. Switch warm layers for T-shirts and you have a simple spring look ready to go. However, it can be all too easy to fall into a style rut with your old faithfuls (hands up who else is wearing jeans and jumpers on repeat?). So, in the interests of freshening things up, we’re shining a light on the never-date silhouettes to know about, along with some new ways of wearing them.

    THE HIGH WAIST

The vintage feel of a high-waist jean is enduringly stylish. This is the right shape to tuck your cashmere cardigan into now and statement-collared top or broderie anglaise blouse come spring.

    2

    THE STRAIGHT

Classic straight legs are the go-to style for a considered casual look. Use them to pull together a preppy sweatshirt and high tops at weekends. For a more polished outfit, team with a trench and ballet pumps.

    3

    THE BLACK WASH

When it comes to denim, the darker the wash, the smarter the look. Take your black jeans from weekend to workday with a tailored jacket, a pair of slick boots and luxe gold jewellery.

    4

    THE WIDE LEG

The question we get asked most about wide legs is: “What shoes to wear with them?” Trainers and slip-on flats will always work, but try a pair of long, stacked-heel boots for a dressier look.

    5

    THE WHITE

Pale denim looks especially luxe when worn tonally with other barely-there tones. Not just for spring, either, wear yours now with an off-white knit and cream winter coat.

    6

    THE TIE WAIST

As well as being flattering, a tie waist adds a directional edge to even the simplest of outfits. Look for a style with a statement waist, or add a leather belt to an existing pair and give your classic white T-shirts a new point of view.

    7

    THE FLARED

Flared jeans are the style to give your wardrobe classics a chic retro nod. Use them to give your white shirts, Breton tops and crew-neck knits ’70s spirit.

    8

    THE CROPPED

Cropped jeans are a low-key summer staple; however, when worn with a pair of long, leather boots, they can also work for the colder months. Finish with a luxe knit and shoulder bag.
