  • Ed’s Letter

    Dear Wardrobe ICONS readers…

It is with heavy hearts that we write this issue’s editor’s letter. What we had imagined would be a time to welcome and celebrate the new season has turned into a very different and harsh reality, with the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

At a time like this, it’s easy to feel helpless and hopeless. However, if the past two years have taught us anything, it’s that these feelings can be overcome by taking action and doing our bit. At ICONS HQ, we are doing everything we can to support the Ukrainian people, while creating content that will hopefully offer you a little distraction in dark times.

Our W.ICONS auction ends this morning, so if you haven’t already, please visit our eBay page to make a bid on some of our own wardrobe icons. All proceeds will go to the Save the Children Ukraine Appeal.

In the issue, you’ll find a comprehensive guide to the season ahead. As ever, our focus is firmly on offering ideas and inspiration for making the most of the wardrobe you already have. In our biannual Trend Report we’ve cherry-picked the looks and pieces we believe will do just that, from the new ways to style gingham and stripes to the updated jeans silhouette and flat shoes that make everyday spring dressing simple.

Elsewhere, we’ve handpicked 10 dresses for spring and show you four refreshed approaches to wearing your leather jacket, how to add fringing into your new-season wardrobe and why wearing your trench coat with a tan bag is a good idea. Style insider and NET-A-PORTER’s content director, Alice Casely-Hayford shares the smart spring/summer investments she’ll be making, and we shine a light on one of London’s brightest fashion stars, Molly Goddard. Finally, head to page 10 for a chance to win a long weekend in Wales.

We hope you enjoy the issue and that it offers a small moment of light relief. All of our thoughts, love and support are with the people of Ukraine.
