Getting ready for spring isn’t just about switching up our wardrobes – our make-up routines need a refresh, too. Swap out your wintery base layer for lightweight foundations that give plenty of glow. Whether you’re looking for fuller coverage or a barely-there tint, these are the tried-and-tested formulations to know.

    Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint£27

Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line has garnered a cult following, and with this product I can see why. The sheer tint has a clever blurring effect that softens lines and blemishes, giving a polished and smooth complexion without heavy coverage. The formula is easy to blend on with fingers or a brush and moves with your skin, so it’s easy to forget you’re wearing any base at all. It comes in 25 shades and contains a hydrating complex to keep skin looking and feeling fresh all day long.

The Face Pencil – Everything Stick£23

As it’s the brainchild of make-up icon Bobbi Brown, I was expecting Jones Road to deliver, and it certainly does. The Face Pencil is a solid foundation-cum-concealer stick that can be applied all over the face as a light base or used on targeted areas as a touch-up. For a sheerer texture you can also blend it with your day cream and apply as a tinted moisturiser. I found it particularly effective at covering under-eye darkness and blemishes, and the pencil format is perfect for keeping in my bag.

Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50£33

This CC cream feels just like a tinted moisturiser to apply, but comes with added colour-correcting benefits that neutralise redness and brighten dark circles – so after applying it, my skin looked fresh and even in tone. The smart formula contains several skincare ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, peptides, vitamin B and collagen, to boost, hydrate and plump your complexion as you wear it. This is perfect for those who want a full coverage that still feels lightweight.

Double Wear Sheer Long-Wear Makeup SPF 20£29.75

Every beauty editor I know raves about Double Wear, and with good reason. The innovative, lightweight base gives a medium coverage that disguises blemishes and blurs lines while allowing skin to breathe. The oil-free formula and matte finish keep complexions shine-free – even in the heat – and a blend of hydrating ingredients imparts a fresh glow. It also helps protect skin from UV rays and pollution. I like how easy it is to apply – I love a make-up sponge, but blending on with your fingertips works just as well for a seamless look.
