Welcome to our first issue of 2023…

This time of the year can be a little tricky in the dressing department. When it’s so cold outside and spring still feels a long way off, style inspiration doesn’t always come easily. My approach is to fall back on the staples: great jeans, chic knits, warm shoes. These are the pieces that deliver on style and practicality. I also use this month to assess my wardrobe, not only looking at the gaps that need filling, but also which pieces need some TLC to bring them back to their full glory. With the above in mind, this issue is dedicated to garment care, winter classics and the little ideas that will breathe new life into your wardrobe.

To kick things off, our cover star is renowned stylist Clare Richardson. Not only has she worked with the biggest names in the industry, she is the force behind Reluxe, an innovative shopping platform championing pre-loved fashion. Clare’s commitment to enjoying beautiful clothes as sustainably as possible is inspiring, and her eye for quality, timeless pieces has catapulted Reluxe into becoming one of the most sought-after shopping destinations. We were delighted to visit her at home in London to find out more about the business and her own approach to buying pre-loved.

In ICONS Guide, we’ve shone a spotlight on winter woollens and I’ve compiled my comprehensive guide to looking after them. From clever storage ideas to moth-beating essentials, turn to page 3 to find out how to keep those knits and coats pristine.

Speaking of knits, I bet everyone has a navy roll neck in their jumper drawer. As ICONS is all about getting the most from your wardrobe, in Style Sheet, Des has put together four new ways of wearing it that works for freezing temperatures. And to keep your feet warm, the team have found the cosiest shoes and boots to be worn in the office or at the weekend.

Have you bought a fleece yet? I’m wearing one right now. The winter layer has had a renaissance this season and goes well beyond chilly walks. Find out why and how to wear them, plus an edit of the chicest styles, on page 8. As for what to put on underneath – jeans and jumpers are the outfit formula the whole office is reaching for right now. In Perfect Pairing discover the elevated combinations that feel so right for this time of year.

After a busy end to last year, for me, the next few weeks will be filled with a lot of nesting at home. If your plans are similar to mine then turn to page 7, where you’ll find a handpicked selection of gorgeous loungewear to hunker down in. I’ll also be using the long evenings to spend extra time on my beauty routine and over the holidays I’ve been trying out overnight treatments to rejuvenate my tired skin. In Beauty Focus, I’ve recommended the four that have made a difference. Consider them the perfect January pick-me-up.

I hope you enjoy and Happy New Year!
