  • The Joseph Trousers

Joseph’s tailored navy trousers are the definition of a forever buy. There are so many ways to style them that we found it tricky to narrow it down to four. They’re made from a brilliantly lightweight wool, which hangs, skims and flatters without creasing or clinging. Their lack of overt detailing and their classic cut means they’ll not date a day from when you purchase them. Go and try them on – we promise they’ll fill that missing link in your wardrobe.

    Acting Casual

It’s a fallacy to think you can only wear tailored trousers on smart occasions. They actually make the perfect weekend companion too – all you have to do is add trainers and a denim shirt to give them a sporty daytime feel. Of course we then added some arm candy to make it that little bit girly.

    Working Girl

We know what you’re going to say: ‘A tailored trouser for the office? How revolutionary.’ But you’d be surprised how many women still opt for dresses or skirts in a corporate environment. These trousers are as versatile as a pencil skirt, more practical and, dare we say it, a little chicer. Just throw together with a cashmere turtleneck, kitten heels and a tailored coat.

    Out and about

Our recent obsession is a check coat, so we were thrilled to find this beautiful recycled-wool one in rust tones from Mango. It’s a great way to modernise your classic tailored navy trousers and make them winter-appropriate. Lift the look with a lightweight cream cashmere scarf and tan saddle bag.

    Touch of gold

Green and navy are a killer colour combo. Neutral enough not to demand attention (red and pink, we’re looking at you), but a little more fun than head-to-toe navy or black. We love this little chain bag from & Other Stories – it gives the whole look a little added oompf, as do the door-knocker earrings that tap directly into our current bold gold obsession.
