I’ve never been one to go to bed with my make-up on or forget to apply moisturiser in the evening. In fact I treasure the rituals involved in taking care of my skin behind my closed bathroom door – it’s often the only time I get to myself! From deep cleansing to body scrubs and face masks, I try to make time to nourish my skin. I generally prefer mild formulas and natural ingredients, but being 36 and after two breastfed kids, I’ve recently had to step up my skincare regime with more active ingredients such as pure vitamin C and retinol. Here are the products currently in my beauty cabinet.

    Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel£52.50

A great everyday gel cleanser, this gently takes all your make-up off, even on the eyes, without irritating or leaving skin tight.

    Zelens Daily Defence SPF30£55

A light, broad spectrum day SPF30, perfect for wearing under make-up.

    Susanne Kaufmann Enzyme Peel£43

Suitable for all skin types; apply all over the face and leave it on for 10 minutes to remove dead skin cells. And it doesn’t have that abrasive quality that can stress the epidermis.

    Caudalie Cleansing Water£15

Add one pump to some cotton wool and wipe your face after cleansing, to take off the last traces of make-up.

    Aveda Volumizing Tonic£18

Spray on wet or dry roots to achieve not only volume but also a little extra grip, for a tousled finish.

    de Mamiel Salvation Body Oil£75

A rich oil formula to moisturise your skin after a bath or shower, it smells like heaven.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil£85

This works through the night to produce visibly more youthful skin, thanks to the trans-retinoic acid ester complex that reduces the appearance of pores and the first signs of premature ageing.

    Goldfaden MD Vital Boost£60

Packed with vitamins and antioxidants and perfect for uneven-toned skins, this day-to-night moisturiser leaves your skin looking dewy and radiant.

    Borghese Restorative Eye Sheet Mask£23

These single-use hydrating and brightening eye sheets are great at home and when travelling to soothe tired eyes.

REN Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm£23

A refreshing salt-based scrub for dry skin; use in the tub to invigorate skin and remove dead cells. Then rinse off for baby-fresh skin.

    SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic£129

Using vitamin C first thing every morning on clean skin has been an absolute revelation. It provides an extra layer of protection against environmental damage by neutralising free radicals, and also fights the signs of ageing.

    QMS Medicosmetics Activator Mask£66

To use this, pour the solution into the pot that contains the sheet mask; then, once the solution has been absorbed, gently press onto your skin. This mask instantly plumps, smooths and hydrates, plus it’s great for alleviating jet lag.
