How to buy a designer bag
Buying a designer bag can be both a thrilling and daunting experience altogether. There’s the excitement of a new purchase but also an overwhelming amount of choice, the rather intimidating environment of designer “maisons” and four figure price tags attached to your new arm candy. I headed to Louis Vuitton to dispel a myth and find the ultimate forever bag… or four.
I am currently refurbishing my flat and I feel the same way about picking floor tiles for my bathroom as some women might feel about buying a designer handbag: overwhelmed by choice, perplexed about how much money to “invest” and considerably intimidated by the picture-perfect stores selling them.
I find that half the difficulty is “shopping around”. If I want to be of any real help to women who feel the same way about bags as I do about interior design, I would firstly have to identify one store that holds an authentic selection under one roof. For me that store is Louis Vuitton because of its broad selection, wide (enough) price range, timeless aesthetic, quality and heritage – in other words because a LV bag is a grown-up, sophisticated purchase that you virtually can’t go wrong with.
I took a trip down to Louis Vuitton’s store in London, to look in detail at four iconic shapes that will stand the test of time, and to talk you through how to buy a designer handbag.
