  • Petro’s A/W Checklist

As regular readers will know, Petro’s style is classic, but always with a twist. This winter, some old favourites are back in high rotation, like her much-loved classic mac and well-worn cashmere. Of course, there will be updates too: a nod to the check trend (in a classic silhouette) and some accessories destined for ICON status.

It’s taken me a while to board this particular trend train and, although I might not invest in the real McCoy (Simone Rocha), I do love these pearl clips and think they’ll get plenty of wear, particularly during the silly season.

    Pure Collection

    Cashmere Lofty Sweatshirt£150

You can’t go wrong with a navy jumper and I love this one’s boxy, boyish cut. Perfect for layering over dresses, or at the weekend with trainers and jeans.

    Pleated Sequin Midi Skirt£560

This is going to be my season of embracing separates; a lightweight floral skirt will add a pop of colour to my classics. I’ll wear with leopard spots, polka dots or stripes for a print clash.

    Sandringham Trench Coat£1,390

In terms of coats, I think I wear my trench the most, as it feels sophisticated but still cool. It’s a big trend every season and I can’t think of any occasion it doesn’t work for.

I only recently pierced my ears, so every season I like to invest in a killer pair of earrings. This gold door-knocker pair from Katerina Psoma is this winter’s purchase, which I’ll be wearing with everything.

    M.i.h Jeans

    Emmanuelle Blouse£225

I’m not sure how I don’t own one already, but a good high-collared blouse is high on my wishlist. The ruffle detail is quite subtle so it won’t bulk up my frame, but it will add an element of femininity to my tailored pieces.

    Mansur Gavriel

    Mini Leather Saddle Bag£485

The saddle bag has become as much of a classic as the tote. The lack of excessive hardware and the modern finish ensures this Mansur Gavriel number will stand the test of time.

    Annab Check Blazer£745

I’m a big fan of good tailoring, especially a blazer. This oversized version will not only update any look, it’ll also make it feel more grown-up and polished.

    Princetown Logo Jacquard Slippers£530

I bought a version of these with bees on a couple of years ago and cost-per-wear they have paid for themselves. If I were to reinvest I’d go for this red velvet logo pair and team them with everything from dresses to suits.

    Geometric Logo Print Scarf£225

I’m pulling out my mother’s silk scarves this winter, tying them to everything from bags to belt loops, or wearing them in my hair. I blame The Crown for this obsession…
