Known for his rich narratives that underpin every collection, Erdem is a storyteller. He has a passion for historical research and eccentric women: his SS19 collection was inspired by two cross-dressing Victorians called Fanny and Stella; the season before that, his muse was Adele Astaire, a woman who gave up her acting career to marry into British aristocracy. Erdem also loves fine craftsmanship and tailoring, which is evident in every piece he creates. And while every hotly anticipated season surprises, there’s a signature there too: think sweeping gowns, decorative coats and elegant separates, with touches of velvet brocade, fragile lace, satin and puffed sleeves.
“When it comes to investing in something special that you’ll never tire of, no designer achieves it better. I bought this dress for my engagement party eight years ago, and love it just as much today. Erdem’s beautifully made pieces transcend the seasons”
Since 2005, Erdem Moralioglu has created a feminine aesthetic loved by stylish and powerful women everywhere: from politics (Michelle Obama) to Hollywood (Cate Blanchett), as well as Royal palaces (Meghan and Kate). Credited for helping to revive the industry, the half-British, half-Turkish designer completed a BA in Fashion in Toronto before moving to London in 2000 for his MA at the Royal College of Art. Upon graduating, Erdem launched his namesake label, which has gone from strength to strength.
