  • Summer Nails

While Petro and Laura might agree that polished nails are a summer essential, they couldn’t be more different when it comes to their favourite shades. Laura gravitates towards the palest of pinks, but Petro prefers to make a splash with bold brights. So pick a side and read on for the colours and formulas they are loving right now.

    Petro
    Nail Polish in Kelly£22
    Petro-Mani

I love bright shades for summer. It just feels like the perfect time to have a little fun. This Kure Bazaar natural varnish in Kelly might not last as long as some other formulas, but if you’re concerned about clean beauty (which I am) it’s the best I’ve found, and this cute pink feels contemporary and pretty.

    Petro
Vernis Nail Polish in Rouge 999£22
    Petro-Pedi

I’m always on the hunt for the perfect shade of geranium red, like this Dior Vernis polish in Rouge 999. The formula is thin, but it gives you a strong colour without adding a thick layer to your nails. Even better, it dries really fast, which is key for me, as I’m a little impatient and have a terrible track record with smudging.

    Laura
    Nail Polish in Sugar Daddy£7.99
    Laura-Mani

I’m wearing my nails slightly longer this summer, which I think looks perfect with a pale neutral. On holidays I prefer a more translucent finish on my hands, as the chips are far less visible. Essie Sugar Daddy is a simple creamy pink that has a lovely glossy finish and (dare I say it) looks great with a tan.

    Laura
Vinylux Nail Polish in Lavishly Loved£8.45
    Laura-Pedi

This pink Vinylux polish in Lavishly Loved has a lovely shine, while the colour goes with every summer sandal I own. I always used to choose gels for durability, but I found my nail health really suffered. The compromise is this formula, which goes on like a regular polish but lasts significantly longer.
