  • How To Wear The Button-Down Shirt

The button-down shirt is a wardrobe staple for good reason. We know you’ve heard it before, but at Wardrobe ICONS we want you to feel excited about your classics. So as you prepare to head back to work or attend smarter, grown-up affairs, we’ve got four stylish ways to wear your button-down. Not only will your post-summer style feel refreshed, but getting dressed in the morning will be that much easier.

    Go With The Flow

There’s one word for nailing this look: loose. The 70s power-dressing feel to this outfit makes it a little bit Dynasty. Team with a pair of flowing, wide-leg trousers and half-tuck in your shirt. The most stylish women we know wear the collar open and slightly back off their neck, with lots of layered necklaces.

    Add Pleats

For a prim and polished look, you can’t go wrong with a shirt tucked into a pleated skirt. To hit that smart-casual note, roll up the sleeves or opt for a short-sleeved shirt. Then add a pair of kitten-heel slingbacks, one of our key autumn pieces.

    Play With Prints

If you love colourful prints, this is a great way to make them workwear-appropriate. Take your boldest pair of trousers and add a crisp white shirt and classic blazer for a smart, day-to-night look.

    Nip & Untuck

Classic doesn’t have to mean simple. A shirt in a print or a different shape (like this wrap style) will have a place in your wardrobe for years to come – it’s your button-down with a twist. Always wear untucked and team with a pair of skinny cigarette pants to balance out the proportions.
