Varana

Whether you’re looking for a workwear update or polished off-duty pieces, Varana is a name to know about. Dedicated to preserving and sustaining traditional Indian crafts, the contemporary label marries heritage techniques with modern, pared-back design. The result? Exquisitely made, wearable pieces that stand the test of time.

Taking its name from the point in the Ganges where the Varuna and Asi tributaries converge, Varana is a love letter to the Indian subcontinent. Cashmere is knitted in the Himalayas, woodblock prints are made in Rajasthan, jamdani fabric is hand woven in West Bengal. Each collection, made with sustainability and environmental impact in mind, balances a timeless, refined aesthetic with everyday practicality. We love the signature trench coats and oversized cashmere cardigans, which are perfect for trans-seasonal dressing.

We’re already compiling out new-season wish list and are delighted to exclusively offer ICONS readers 15% off their first full-price purchase. Use the code ICONS15 online at varana.com, or at the Dover Street flagship until 31st October. Enjoy!

Varana is a go-to for elevated wardrobe staples with a twist, guaranteed to be worn for a lifetime.

Sujata Keshavan’s route into the fashion industry isn’t a typical one. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras), in eastern India, Keshavan studied graphic design at university before co-founding a luxury branding and design agency, where she spent 25 years as creative director. It was during this time that she developed a passion for shining a light on the unique craftsmanship of her homeland and bringing it into the global fashion industry. In 2016 she launched Varana, to do just that.
