Is there anywhere better than New York in the autumn?

If there is, I’ve yet to find it. From the golden leaves in Central Park to the low hanging sun over that iconic skyline, the city that never sleeps is particularly magical at this time of year. So it was a real treat for Laura and I to spend a long weekend there together recently. As well as delicious food and several shopping stops, it gave us both the chance to really enjoy our cold-weather wardrobes. After a few years of hibernating, for many of us this is the first winter season where we can relish those warm layers. With this in mind, we wanted this issue to celebrate getting dressed for the cold and share our ideas on how to do it stylishly.

Our cover star is the perfect example of this. We’ve followed super-stylist Jordan Foster for a while and admire both her personal aesthetic and the brand she’s style director of, Favorite Daughter. While in the Big Apple, we were delighted to be invited into her airy loft to take a look around her classic-with-a-twist wardrobe and find out more about her approach to getting dressed. Turn to page 2 to discover her secrets. And because we can’t help but be nosy, we also asked her to open up her beauty cabinet and talk us through her favourite clean products and brands.

For this issue’s ICONS Guide, we wanted to tackle a winter style formula that we all find tricky at times: layering. We’ve put together six timeless combinations that not only guarantee warmth, but are also smart ways to give your winter favourites a new twist.

With the days growing darker, we’re currently craving a pop of colour. Brights were big on this season’s catwalks and can instantly lift your autumnal outfits – not to mention your mood. Our edit of rainbow knits and bright bags have something for everyone, whether you want to go statement or subtle.

After years of relying on leather leggings, now also feels like the right time to expand our winter trouser repertoire and invest in a pair of woollen trousers. We’ve found this season’s very best styles that will work for day, evening, work and weekend – just add your favourite top. And to go with them? A pair of loafers. The classic style has made a comeback recently and is the perfect winter shoe to reach for when you don’t want to wear boots. In our Style Sheet we’ve put together four ways to wear them.

When was the last time you wore corduroy? The ’70s signature was everywhere during fashion week. Worn as trousers, blazer, a shirt or dress, it’s the Unexpected Hero we think your wardrobe will thank you for.

Finally, we’ve found the ultimate winter accessories that will keep you feeling warm and looking chic all season long.

    Until next time, enjoy!

    Petro (& Laura) xx

Three pieces I’ll be relying on this season…

    • 1

I love the texture corduroy gives my autumnal outfits. Combined with Blazé Milano’s impeccable tailoring, this makes for a wear-on-repeat piece.

    • 2

This burgundy bag will give my cold-weather wardrobe a much needed splash of colour. The rich tone will easily work with my classic neutrals, too.

    • 3

I’m a devotee of loafers and have already worn mine with trousers and dresses several times this season. As the temperature drops, I’ll add a pair of socks.
