The last thing you want when you’re looking for something is to be pulling out various boxes and bags, only for it to be in the last place you think to check. Whether you go for an old-school label maker, easy stickers or classic cards, find the right option for you, so you always know what goes where.
Not all storage options are created equal; hang clothes that will wrinkle in garment bags, voluminous items in vacuum-seal bags, and anything that will be going under your bed should have easy grab-and-pull handles.
Find yourself with more clothes than space? We have that problem sometimes, too. Look for drop-down hangers that accommodate up to four pieces of clothing. And for everything else, use a folding board to get those extra pieces as flat as possible when they’re put away in your chest of drawers.
Did you know that most knitwear shouldn’t be cleaned the same way as the majority of your other clothes? Always double-check the care instructions on your knits, as they’ll vary from ‘dry clean only’ to ‘cold hand wash.’ To give your knits a longer life, don’t wash as frequently and instead give them a steam, a spritz of laundry mist, and de-bobble any bits of fuzz.
Jewellery can be one of our most repeatedly worn items, but how often do we actually clean it? Explore different cleaning and polish options, from simple sprays and cloths to higher-end machines. However you choose to clean it, make sure to store all of your pieces in a safe, dry place.
From belts to boots, refresh your leather pieces with a gentle clean. Carefully read through the instructions on the waxes and polishes to ensure your leather goods come out of their treatment looking as good as new.
There’s nothing worse than bringing out your pieces for spring and finding that the moths have beaten you to it. Luckily, in this day and age, there are plenty of ways to help fight against this pest. Whether it’s by adding cedar rings to your hangers or scent bags to your drawers, we’re making sure you’re not losing anything else from your forever wardrobe.
As you get your spring clothes out of storage – or just from the back of your closet – it might be worth giving them a clean for a nice refresh. Use a gentle detergent with a subtle scent. And to keep your clothes smelling nice, look for scented drawer liners and wax tablets that can be hidden in your wardrobe. Finish off with a spritz of room spray.
