Issue 255: Ed's Letter

Words by

This is an issue that Petro and I look forward to each year as we get to road-test the clothes we’re going to champion throughout the season. Like you, we’re real women with busy jobs and lives, so it’s important to us that we show you clothes that work in real life, not just on the pages of a magazine. As such, you’re not going to find a ballgown and tiara in our new-season shoot on page 2, but you will find great chinos, practical jackets and bags that will fit all your essentials.

We’re super-excited to have the wonderful designer Rejina Pyo curate a guest edit for us in this issue. She’s someone who shares so many of our sensibilities, creating clothes that look beautiful and feel comfortable. Head to page 3 to find out what she’s coveting right now.

On page 6, you’ll find my pick of the 10 best spring dresses – all of which perfectly bridge the seasonal gap we’re currently in. Another great between-seasons staple is the leather blazer, which I’ve styled in four different ways in Style Sheet on page 4. It’s a piece that gets better with age and something I think every woman should consider owning.

We celebrate our Unexpected Hero on page 7 – the utility jumpsuit. While jumpsuits are already a staple in our wardrobe, we love the utilitarian direction of this style – it’s a ready-made outfit that is both practical and stylish and chimes with the ‘real women, real clothes’ message we want to get across in this issue.

Petro and I have also spring-cleaned our make-up bags and found four beauty essentials that we really love – including a brow product I’ve been desperate to get my hands on. You can find out more on page 9.

Our senior contributing fashion editor, Des, who has years of experience when it comes to styling, shares her ultimate spring wish list on page 5. Finally, we’ve turned the spotlight on British brand Galvan, one of our go-to occasion-wear labels, and there’s a chance for you to win £700 to spend at Boden!

A final note – Wardrobe ICONS has always been about providing you with inspiration, sharing styling formulas that can be applied to pieces you already own and helping you build a forever wardrobe. We hope this issue does that.
