This issue of ICONS coincides with Earth Day on 22nd April, so we thought it would be important to kick off with a feature that spotlights the slow brands you need to knowCurated by W.ICONSSlow And Sustainable Fashion Brands Approved By Our Editor.
However, as our fashion director, Polly Knight, pointed out during our flat-plan meeting, not everyone is able to afford sustainable brands at designer prices. Therefore, the focus of this particular feature lies in highlighting those at an entry-level price point. Each of these 10 enterprises, regardless of their size, is dedicated to making conscious efforts to care for our planet and communities, and I found it genuinely enlightening to delve into their stories on page 2Curated by W.ICONSSlow And Sustainable Fashion Brands Approved By Our Editor.
In line with Earth Day, we had the opportunity to chat with Anna Foster, the stylist turned designer at E.L.V. Denim who’s revolutionising the industry with her circular approach to denim design. Did you know that each pair of jeans they produce is 100% upcycled? Or that their denim washing process uses only seven litres of water, compared with the 10,000 litres needed to make a new pair of jeans through traditional fast-fashion production methods? It was a pleasure to meet Anna in person at the launch of her capsule for THE OUTNET, and I’m thrilled that she could contribute her guest edit on page 7The Guest EditE.L.V. DENIM Founder Anna Foster’s Spring Favourites to spotlight the brands she champions today.
Additionally, this issue features a package of styling-friendly ideas to refresh your spring wardrobe, including: How To Incorporate A Pop Of Red Into Any OutfitUnexpected HeroHow To Incorporate An Unexpected Pop Of Red Into Any Outfit, Spring Dressing Made Simple With These 10 Wardrobe EssentialsIcons GuideSpring Dressing Made Simple With These 10 Wardrobe Essentials, and 4 Ways To Style Our New And Exclusive Utility JacketStyle Sheet4 Ways To Style Our New And Exclusive Utility Jacket. I took The Jackie on holiday with me to South Africa, where it served as the perfect safari jacket, but I’m also finding it incredibly versatile in this rainy spring that we’re experiencing in the UK.

My recent trip to South Africa reinforced my personal interest in looking after our planet, wildlife, and communities, so it’s my hope that these pages will inspire you to embrace a more mindful approach to fashion consumption, now and always.
