Your Perfect Capsule Wardrobe For Effortless Holiday Style

Sunset Dinner
A linen shirt is a perennial essential in our wardrobes but it really comes into its own when packing for summer holidays. It folds up small, is lightweight and doubles as a beach cover-up. Opt for a neutral colour that will blend seamlessly with everything else in your holiday wardrobe. For a sunset dinner, we’d pair this stone-colour style with linen shorts in a similar pale hue.
Beach Day
Investing in a really good bikini is always a good idea. Swimwear generally doesn’t get a lot of outings throughout the year, so finding the right one that you can reliably turn to year after year is a worthwhile venture. Try on as many different styles as you can to find what works for you and your body shape. Feeling confident is all about feeling comfortable, so don’t make swimwear an afterthought.
Sunshine Strolls
Think about the little things. Accessories are key to making a capsule wardrobe go further, so give them thought when packing. Pieces like a statement belt, embellished evening bag and subtle jewellery have the ability to elevate really simple pieces, taking them from daytime to night-time with ease. Accessories are small but mighty in the style stakes.
Be practical. Yes, a holiday is a chance to wear some of those beautiful pieces that don’t ordinarily get an outing back at home, but packing cleverly means packing practically above all else. If your trip involves a spot of sightseeing, you need comfortable pieces that will withstand days of walking around, provide ample protection from the sun, and allow you to feel prepared for the day ahead. That’s why we always suggest a basket bag – use it as your carry-on to save packing space – a chic hat, lightweight separates and chunky-soles sandals.
Afternoon At The Beach Bar
Laura and Petro both recommend nailing down a tight colour palette for your holiday wardrobe as a way to simplify packing. It’s the easiest way to ensure that all the pieces you take with you can be mixed and matched to create the maximum amount of outfits from the minimum amount of pieces. We’ve gone for green, off-white and neutral accessories in raffia.
A Lazy Lunch
Petro likes to stick to ‘The Rule Of Three’ when it comes to footwear and holidays. As shoes can take up a lot of bag space, aim to stick to three pairs at most (we’ve gone for just two here). This means opting for the most versatile style you can find, like our ICONS Exclusive x Ancient Greek Sandals Icona style – the perfect minimalist look that will finish off so many outfits, and work just as well for the evening as it does during the day.
Evening Drinks
A co-ord comes into its own as part of a holiday wardrobe. Worn together, it’s a shortcut to easy chic, then when split, the two pieces become vital components to make up other outfits. If you want a pattern, a stripe is always a good option – we like to consider it a neutral thanks to its versatility.
Pool Day
Much like a linen shirt, a linen dress is an essential piece to have in your holiday capsule. We love this shirt dress style from Mondo Corsini in easy-to-wear khaki. Perfect for throwing over swimwear or dressing up as part of a more formal outfit.
