    Top Tips

    • The easiest way to wear this trend is off duty, with frayed jeans and a tee or slogan knit
    • Team them with floaty, feminine dresses and skirts to add edge
    • If your office dress code is relatively relaxed, use them to dress down a slouchy suit or tailoring

    Dad Trainers

I know, I know, but bear with me. They may be about as far from an ICON as you can get (although that’s not to say they’re not iconic in their own way), but some of us in the Wardrobe ICONS office – OK, just me – have finally been won over by the dad trainer. If they’re such a passing fad then why are they a hero, I hear you ask. Well, you know when you get dressed in the morning and your outfit just doesn’t look quite right, and that happens every morning? This is what you’re missing. You can wear your chunky trainers with anything to take your outfit up a notch, and they’ll make your older pieces feel more current too.

    Top Tips

    • Stick to slightly sleeker styles and neutral colours like whites and blacks if you’re a little nervous
    • The smaller your feet, the chunkier sneaker you can pull off
    • We may be wrong, but we don’t foresee this trend sticking around in the same way backless loafers have, so it isn’t one we’ll be spending lots on
    • Although they’re meant to be overly chunky these trainers are actually really wearable, so embrace them!
