  • Deborah’s A/W Checklist

If you want to see how to have fun with fashion when the mercury drops, make our editor-at-large’s wishlist your cheat sheet. Deborah always manages to look stylish and grown-up, while never completely putting her inner-hippy to bed. Here’s how she’s going to mix old classics with new-season updates.

    Isabel Marant

    Denzy Knee-high Boots£570

I always love a knee-high boot for winter and the cowboy style gives this one a new spin. The simple caramel suede will make this work with all my long boho dresses and skirts.

    Tilly Sveaas

    Gold Double Linked Necklace£550

For me, this winter is all about layering necklaces in different widths and textures, from beads to chunky chains and pendants.

    Ulla Johnson

    Esti Macramé Leather Bag£820

The hippy in me loves a fringed or macramé bag – choose plum or tan for winter. I have an old Chloé one that comes out each season.

    Preen by Thornton Bregazzi

    Lana Reversible Trench Coat£1,345

A lightweight trench is the perfect cover-up for that in-between weather. I love this long, sweeping trench, and the black and red check is reversible. I’d wear it over dresses, or with jeans and chunky boots for a more casual look.

    Reinhard Plank Hats

    Ibro Hat£250

I often wear a wide-brimmed fedora or stetson rather than use an umbrella, but this season I’m taken with a smaller, more masculine-shaped hat for a real 80s feel.

    Clea Silk Satin Dress£395

I like the versatility of my Joseph silk camisole dress. I’ll wear it in the day with a chunky ribbed sweater or cardigan and a pair of trainers, and for the evening with a tuxedo jacket and either brogues or simple strappy sandals.

    Patchwork Fair Isle Knit£275

I’m a sucker for a Nordic knit and have quite a collection. For me, they never go out of style. I’ll wear mine this season with a long, printed skirt and a fringed cross-body bag.

    Silk-Twill Bag Strap£455

Rather than buying a new bag, I love the idea of updating the ones I own with this new strap – the interweaving silk scarf has a real 70s feel.

    Vanessa Bruno

    Juliana Spot Dress£315

I love my winter dresses – when I’m wearing them in the winter I layer a polo neck underneath or a sweater over the top for day, with a chunky heeled boot. For the evening, I’d add earrings to this polka-dot number and wear it out for dinner.

    Square Printed Cotton Skirt£670

I remember when this print first appeared in the 90s, and I’ve had a soft spot for it ever since. I love the retro colourway and geometric pattern.
